This year's BAM Día de los Muertos altar honors the life and work of Salvador Dali. Dalí was one of the most influential and eccentric artists of the 20th century, best known for his surrealist paintings that blurred the line between dream and reality. Born in Figueres, Spain, Dalí showed artistic talent from a young age and quickly became a central figure in the Surrealist movement. His most famous work, The Persistence of Memory (1931), with its melting clocks, has become an icon of modern art. Dalí’s creativity extended beyond painting—he worked in sculpture, film, photography, and even fashion, always embracing imagination and theatricality. With his flamboyant personality, signature mustache, and daring vision, Dalí transformed art into a space of wonder, strangeness, and limitless possibility.

The ofrenda will be up until November 3, 2025
