The Beeville Art Museum provides a variety of learning opportunities year-round for children, teens and adults! Check out our calendar to see what might inspire you.


2024 Summer Art Camps

 

BAM offers a selection of camps all summer to keep children and students connected and their creative juices flowing! Every August, the Museum’s Children Exhibit displays artwork created by camp participants. Join us for an opening reception for the exhibition the first Saturday in August. Everyone is welcome!

Advance registration is required, and space is limited. Registrations are processed in the order they are received on a first-come, first-served basis. If a class if full you can request to be placed on the waiting list.

Applications are accepted in person and cash only.


One Week Camps

 

Each week features a guest artist who has created special projects for BAM students in a variety of mediums.

Age 7 - 9: 9 - 11am
Age 10 - 12: 1 - 3pm

  • June 3 - 7: Sailing into Summer
    Delve into diverse artistic methods as students craft an array of summertime landscapes and objects, unleashing their creativity and ingenuity. Led by Cindy Lopez.

  • June 17 - 21: Captivating Collage

    Embark on a journey through the rich tapestry of collage techniques, drawing inspiration from the visionary works of Matisse, Warhol, and Rauschenberg as you craft your own masterpieces. Led by Curtis Gannon.

  • July 10 - July 14: Wild Wild West
    Saddle up for creativity with projects inspired by the frontier. From 'Wanted' self-portraits to expansive desert vista landscapes, this week offers a journey through the rugged beauty of the American West. Led by Joanne Soward.

There is a $5 registration fee per student per session; advance registration required; space is limited. Applications are accepted in person and cash only.


One and Two-Day Workshops

 

Workshops allow children to explore their creative side and work with a specific artistic medium.

Age 5 - 6: 9 - 11am
Age 7 - 12: 1 - 3pm

  • June 12: Printing with the Press

    Journey into the captivating realm of mono printing, where you'll feel the tactile thrill of transferring your unique designs onto paper with the printing press. Led by David Vickers.

  • June 27: Painting with Pollock

    Roll up your sleeves and unleash your inner artist! Experiment with Jackson Pollock's signature drip painting technique, using a variety of tools and materials to create their own masterpieces inspired by his bold and spontaneous style. Led by Rhea Cantu

  • July 2: Awesome Avocados

    Craft charming avocado-shaped pillows without the need for any sewing skills! Get ready to unleash your creativity as you customize your pillows with playful facial expressions, vibrant colors, and decorative accents. Led by Gabby Gonzalez

  • July 11: Under the Sea 
    Create an enchanting miniature underwater realm to illuminate your nights with its whimsical glow and also create a rainbow fish sun catcher from recycled CDs. Led by Marcie Martinez.

  • July 24 - 25: Clay Creations
    Explore clay and create original pieces from a clay slab! Create marvelous magnets in the morning session and Wind Chimes in the afternoon. Led by Tonya Hunter.

Workshops are free; advance registration is required; space is limited. Applications are accepted in person only.


Teen Art Workshops

 

Summer Workshops are taught by our guest artists and are specifically designed with teens: Age 13 - 17, 4 - 6pm

  • June 5: Sailing into Summer
    Examine the otherworldly nature of the octopus and create a bold interpretation using various tools for color! Led by Cindy Lopez.

  • June 19: Captivating Collage
    Take a journey through different collage techniques, inspired by the creative flair of Robert Rauschenberg to craft your own one-of-a-kind artworks. Led by Curtis Gannon.

  • July 17: Wild Wild West
    Create a vibrant painting that embodies the essence of the Wild West, featuring elements such as spurs and squash blossom necklaces. Led by Joanne Soward.

Adult Classes (18+)

 

BAM provides a variety of classes throughout the year led by local and regional artists. Classes are available for all levels and have included jewelry making, pottery, calligraphy, print making and drawing. Material fees may apply. Check our calendar for upcoming classes.
